Pastor’s Note

Decorah Covenant Church is not a perfect community—so if that’s what you’re looking for in a church you’ve come to the wrong place. We are a community of sinners. We’ve all done things we’re ashamed of and we will all do things we will be ashamed of in the future as well. Part of what defines us as a community is the fact that we know our mistakes don’t define us—because our pasts can be redeemed.

We are a people that know our identity comes not from what we’ve done but who we are—people made in God’s image. We are followers of Jesus, made in the image of God, and nothing we have done or will do can change that. That being said, we know we don’t have a license to do as we please. Rather, we have a responsibility to live as agents of God’s kingdom in this world.

We are not a people that live by the norms of the surrounding culture. We are a people who seek to not only love our neighbors but our enemies, who not only seek to do good but seek to become good, who not only pray and worship and read the Bible, but actually seek to follow Jesus and live what he taught.

This path is not easy—but it is the way of Decorah Covenant Church. That is why we are serious about discipleship. That is why we are serious about college ministry. That is why we’re serious about the Bible and engaging it as the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine, & conduct. And that is why we are serious about helping the hurting and disenfranchised in our world and midst.

If this sounds like the type of community you might be interested in, I encourage you to join us one of these Sundays. You may just find that DCC is the place God wants you to be.

In Christ’s Adventure,

Pastor Matt Kronberg
